Local Artist Creates AmEx Commissioned Small Business Saturday Mural

Did you know… to celebrate the fifth year of Small Business Saturday, American Express commissioned artists to create public Shop Small murals in 12 markets across the country — including DC.   Locally, Aniekan Udofia started his mural in Adams Morgan (2423 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009) last week, finishing just before the shopping started on Small Business Saturday (Nov 29th).

This day dedicated to supporting the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country was actually created by American Express in 2010 in response to small business owners’ most pressing need… more customers.  After only five years, Small Business Saturday is now part of the holiday shopping trifecta with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
