On Saturday, November 18, and Sunday, November 19, the Junior League of Washington (JLW) will hold its 59th annual Holiday Shops fundraiser. Featuring more than 70 merchants, this unique shopping experience is a great way to shop for a cause and check off many items on your holiday gift list. From food, desserts, clothing, stationery, and more, Holiday Shops will have something for everyone on your shopping list. The full list of merchants is available here.
Proceeds from Holiday Shops support the League’s volunteer work in the community, our development programs that train and empower women as civic leaders, and our grants to literacy-related programs in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. JLW’s trained volunteers serve the Washington, DC, community in a variety of ways, including at the National Book Festival, the Washington School for Girls, Calvary Women’s Services, and more than 20 other DC-area nonprofits. Chef Kyle Bailey and Barton Seaver will collaborate for a special event at The Salt Line. The evening will celebrate the release of Barton’s new book American Seafood. The event will be a gathering of leaders in the sustainable seafood area and those passionate and curious about it, to continue a conversation that Barton & Kyle have championed through their work – responsible stewardship of America’s waters. To that end, the proceeds from the evening will benefit the Anacostia Riverkeeper, an advocacy group aimed towards protecting and restoring the Anacostia River for all, and the Oyster Recovery Partnership, striving to create a self-sustaining oyster population through ecological restoration that expands economic opportunities in the Chesapeake and Costal Bays.
Guests will enjoy a selection of offerings from Chef Bailey and Barton Seaver, inspired by the bounty of America’s waters as well as libations from Maine Beer Company.
