Freezin’ for a Reason – 6th Annual Polar Dip

Saturday was cold.  Not just grab your coat, remember your mittens cold.  But rather, low of 19 degrees, good chance of evening snow cold.  Yet still, there were crazies at Lake Anne jumping in.

freezin3Those individuals in crazy costumes and creative flair taking over Reston’s Lake Anne Plaza were actually Freezin’ for a Reason… the 6th annual Virginia Polar Dip to raise funds for Camp Sunshine, a national year-round retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

With a goal to raise $100,000 — which will allow 50 families from the Mid-Atlantic area to attend Camp Sunshine — Saturday’s ~200 participants raised pledge donations for the opportunity to freezinplunge into frigidity.

Commemorative “I DID IT” t-shirts may not have been particularly warm, but they sure did give the warm and fuzzies.
