Introducing the Downtown DC Dine Out

Let’s face it, pandemic or not, everyone craves outdoor dining when the season allows. And our mild temperature days are waning… so let’s get out and eat!
To help us take advantage of the Fall’s wonderful weather and to support Downtown DC dining establishments, the Downtown DC BID is organizing the “DowntownDC Dine Out” weekends between Friday, September 25th, and October 25th, 2020. It’s a tented streatery program on the quiet, pedestrian-friendly blocks of 8th Street between H and K Streets Northwest, where diners can enjoy a multi-restaurant pop-up.
“Generally, such outdoor dining rooms are set directly in front of a group of restaurants on a street already known as a dining destination, but downtown restaurants are generally not bunched together, so we needed to artificially create the critical mass of restaurant experiences necessary to attract diners from throughout the Washington DC metro area,” said Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar CEO, Barry Gutin, who originated the idea.
The Downtown DC Dine Out will feature multiple restaurants and a rotating selection food trucks, with some cooking and mixing drinks on-site, and others transporting finished menu options from their nearby kitchens and bars.
Restaurants joining Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar on opening weekend will be Cranes, Modena, and Olivia. While the Dine Out will initially run for five weekends through October 25, weather permitting it may continue through the winter or reemerge in the spring.
