Folger Shakespeare Library is Ready for Its ‘Encore’

Miss those treasured performances at The Folger Shakespeare Library? Every Friday you can get an encore with the Library’s new weekly online series.

Folger Encores premieres tonight Friday, September 18th, and will celebrate a new episodic release every Friday. Some of these are popular past performances, some are never-before-seen content, but they are all some of the very best of The Bard.

The inaugural episode, released on this, the first day of Rosh Hashanah, will feature the 2018 Folger
Consort performance of “Sonata sopra l’aria di Ruggiero,” composed by the Italian-Jewish virtuoso
violinist Salomone Rossi of the late Renaissance period.

As Folger Encores continues, look forward to tuning in for stirring musical performances from Folger
Consort, the early music ensemble in residence; readings from emerging and established voices
from the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series; and thoughtful insight from leading scholars, with
content drawn from past talks and lectures.

It’s a free screening of something Shakespearian every Friday. Enjoy the Encore!
