Dance Fitness

Part of our new Dance Wellness Series! Try on different styles of dance while beating the winter blues in these fitness-focused classes held the first Saturday of the month, November 2019 through March 2020. Each class will be offered in collaboration with a local dance fitness professional or organization. All experience levels welcome and celebrated.

The 16^th Annual Alexandria Warehouse Sale returns to on Saturday, February 8, in the heart of Old Town. Deemed in the region the longest-running boutique driven warehouse sale, the popular mid-winter event will take place at the Westin Hotel located in the Carlyle District of Old Town Alexandria. The fun, yet casual, free to enter event will include a variety of new boutiques and retailers not only located in Alexandria, but throughout the Metro region.

The event will also have a variety of promotional activities such as:

• In-line Giveaways & Prizes from participating boutiques;
• Mind the Mat – complimentary pilates classes between 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.;
• AR Workshop Alexandria – Get Crafty! AR Workshop is popping by again with another crafty DIY Make & Take Station! Stop by between 8:00 am-10:00 am and make a mini wood sign you will get to take home.  If you missed out last year, they’ll be raffling off another Chunky Knit Blanket Workshop (valued at $85)!  Purchase a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to win a seat in an upcoming class!  Raffle Winner will be announced at 10:00. Experienced sale shoppers line up early in the morning hours to get first grabs at top label merchandise, and throughout the day the sale has a steady pace of shoppers. Folks that decide to wait until the last few hours of the sale can score even more markdown deals with merchants looking to move seasonal merchandise.

The event is also giving away early entry into the Warehouse Sale to four lucky shoppers.  The pass will be good for yourself and a guest to enjoy the sale a full hour before the doors open to the public. Astro Beer Hall, the newest partnership concept between Tin Shop and Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, is partnering with dance party fitness class, 305 Fitness, for a brunch pop-up on Leap Day. Hosted on the mezzanine level of Astro Beer Hall, the morning starts off with 305 Fitness’ signature 55-minute cardio dance party class, led by one of the studio’s most popular instructor’s, Byron Smith. The pop-up class will feature aerobic choreography moves set to high-energy dance tunes from a curated playlist. Following the class, guests can enjoy items from Astro Beer Hall’s recently launched weekend brunch menu including bottomless coffee, a mimosa, and of course, hot cake doughnuts. Hosted on Saturday, February 29 at 10:00 a.m., tickets to the event are $20 and can be purchased here. Each ticket includes:

• The 55-minute 305 Fitness class
• 1 brunch entrée, choice of:
  • French Toast Doughnuts OR
  • Bacon/Sausage Egg and Cheese on a Biscuit and a side of Tater Tots OR

Pizzeria Paradiso in Spring Valley will host a safe and socially distanced “Pizza and Dance Party” this coming Sunday in the vacant parking lot across the street from the restaurant, located at 48^th Street and Windom Place, NW.

The morning starts off with 305 Fitness’ signature 55-minute cardio dance party class, led by one of the studio’s most popular instructors, Owoade Kadara. The pop-up class will feature aerobic choreography moves set to high-energy dance tunes from a curated playlist. Following the class, guests can take a short walk across the street to Pizzeria Paradiso Spring Valley (located at 4850 Massachusetts Avenue, NW) for a fresh out-of-the-oven pizza pie or lunch sized salad, which can be enjoyed on the restaurant’s patio or for takeout.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25., tickets which can be purchased here, are $24 and include:

• The 55-minute 305 Fitness class
• Choice of one pizza or a lunch sized salad*

BMA x NMWA: Healing
Join us for BMA x NMWA, a livestreamed monthly talk show presented by The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) and the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA). In this virtual program, educators from both museums discuss concepts of healing in art. Special guests include NMWA’s Director of Public Programs Melani N. Douglass and Public Programs Manager Amanda Vercruysse to discuss the participatory online exhibition RECLAMATION: Recipes, Remedies, and Rituals.

Holiday Blood Drive
