Oktoberfest @ The Village at Shirlington
Oct 4 @ 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Noch ein Bier, bitte. Capitol City Brewing Company will host its Fifteenth Annual Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest at The Village at Shirlington in Arlington on Saturday, October 4 from 12:00 noon – 7:00 p.m. (all beer taps close at6:00 p.m.) with ticket sales starting at 11:00 a.m.
This year, Capitol City will feature three Oktoberfest additions — the Smokedoberfest, Dr. Punkinstein and the popularOktoberfest Lager (full beer descriptions below). Beer lovers can dance to live Alpine folk music as they taste select handcrafted beers and snack on authentic German cuisine from numerous food tents and a variety of Shirlington Village eateries. Capitol City Brewing Company will also serve traditional German favorites including bratwurst, sauerkraut and the signature fresh soft pretzels.

Following a tradition that started in the early 1880s in Munich, Germany, Capitol City’s Oktoberfest is celebrating its fifteenth successful year and anticipates thousands of people from the Mid-Atlantic region to attend and sample hundreds of ales and lagers provided by 65+ local breweries. Several popular participating breweries include DC Brau, District Chophouse, Vintage 50, Mad Fox, Rock Bottom, Sweetwater, Port City, Lost Rhino, Devil’s Backbone, Champion, Forge, Wild Wolf and Old Ox.

Admission for beer drinkers is $30 (one general admission pass per person), which includes a wristband, official tasting glass and 10 drink tickets. Additional drink tickets can be purchased for $1 each with a five-ticket minimum. The event is free for non-drinkers and children.
Capitol City’s three featured Oktoberfest beers include:
Dr. Punkinstein – Pumpkin Porter with hints of chocolate, honey and crystal malts with flaked oats for a smooth finish. Brown sugar, cinnamon, clover, ginger, nutmeg and allspice are all in the boil in addition to 150 lbs. of “gourd-y” goodness.
Smokedoberfest – A hearty spin on a traditional Marzen, this copper beer is packed with six kinds of malt and noble hops. The smoked German malt gives it a pleasant smoky character ideal with brats, bacon or any grilled meats.
Oktoberfest Lager – An easy drinking fall lager, brewed with Munich, crystal and biscuit malt and dry hopped with noble German hops.
