Thank Heaven for 7-Eleven

On Monday, July 7th (7-Eleven), America’s popular convenience retailer turned 84 and conveniently made the public part of the celebration.

At select stores – including DC’s 7-Eleven on H Street NE – the milestone was observed with a “Slurpee-bration,” including free Slurpees (up to 5 million!), a timed Slurpee drinking contest (brain freeze!), and other challenges.

”Five million is the most Slurpee drinks we’ve ever given away in a day,” said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven’s senior vice president of merchandising, marketing and logistics.

“7-Eleven Day is synonymous with free Slurpee day, because of how popular the Slurpee giveaway has become.  We’ve been serving free Slurpees on July 11 since our 75th birthday in 2002… Even without the 5 million free Slurpee drinks, July is the biggest month of the year for Slurpee sales!”
