The Golden Triangle BID’s Golden Haiku is back in its 10th year of neighborhood prose and inspiration. And if you’re interested in sharing your own original, self-authored haiku, you’ll want to know that this year’s theme is Notes to Nature, and submissions for Golden Haiku are being accepted through February 5, 2023.

The internationally recognized Golden Haiku contest is open to all ages, worldwide. Selected haiku will be shared digitally and displayed on colorful signs popping up in tree boxes across the Golden Triangle neighborhood this spring. Winners of the contest will also receive prizes of up to $500.

But if you’re in the DC area, you’re in luck! Not only can you see the haikus in person when they are on display, but you can register for an in-person haiku workshop co-hosted by the Golden Triangle BID and The Japan-America Society of Washington, DC. Golden Haiku judge Abigail Friedman will share tips for writing haiku on January 18, from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. Space is limited – click here for details and to register.
