Dolci Gelati Opens Second Location – 1st in DC – at CityMarket at O

Why would anyone open an ice cream shop in the winter??  Maybe because you’re Dolci Gelati and your fans will line up for scoops even in the coldest dolce3season!

Just this week, the celebrated Italian brand opened its second retail shop — and the first within the District — Dolci Gelati Café (1420 8th Street NW) at CityMarket at O in Shaw.  This scoop spot is more than double the size of its older sister in Takoma Park and… has indoor seating, so you can enjoy your frozen treat without getting frozen yourself!

“The brand has come a long way since our launch in 2006, during my days of driving my vintage vespa around DC with a cooler filled with gelato strapped to the back, literally going door to door trying to get the word out and share my product with chefs, restaurants, and other venues,” laughed Owner Gianluigi Dellaccio, who doesn’t just serve up gelato and sorbet.  Try Pastry Chef’s house-made cakes and pastries, and now, an impressive assortment of gourmet savory items and gourmet Italian hot chocolate.

Live in or near Shaw?  You’re in luck!  We love the Dolci Gelati’s reusable To-Go three-pint containers for gelato refills (only $25 after the first $40 fill).  Because even when it’s brrrr... we just can’t get enough!
