BGR’s 9 Pound Burger Battle

Nine pounds is more than a taste but that’s what was happening at Taste of DC Sunday afternoon.

BGR The Burger Joint hosted its first-ever burger eating competition — featuring its famous nine pound burger — facing off three teams of four people to try to down BGR’s massive masterpiece: a 9 pound burger patty made from a blend of prime, dry-aged beef cooked over an open flame and piled high with cheese, two heads of lettuce, eight tomatoes, three red onions, four whole pickles and BGR’s famous mojo sauce. The beast of a burger weighs in at 15.4 pounds in total after toppings.

With only nine minutes to finish (or make the biggest dent in) the burger – The DMV Eaters team (consisting of Ian Hickman, Jay Gorman, Mike Longo and Scotty Phillips) were crowned the winners with some heavy bragging rights… PLUS a five night trip for four to Mexico, BGR The Burger Joint gift cards, and a donation made in their name to breast cancer research.
