DC’s Largest Theatre Offers Rare View Inside ‘Jerusalem’ — in 3D

“Thousands of cups of tea is really what it took to get all of the footage that we needed,” explained Daniel Ferguson at the opening preview of Jerusalem at the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX theatre within the 20131119-103754.jpgSmithsonian Museum of Natural History.

“Permission to film inside the Dome of the Rock is not an easy task.”

Still, the writer/director/producer of the National Geographic Entertainment original production persevered, over some four years, to share the story of this city which has been fought over for millennia.

“I believe the best IMAX films are poems in honor of their subjects,” Ferguson insists.

The 3D giant feature presents the story of the sacred city from a trio of perspectives (Christian, Jewish, 20131119-103808.jpgand Muslim) and provides rare access into iconic holy sites from all three, including the a Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jordan River, Sea of Galilee and Masada.

The 43 minute film opens Friday, November 22nd.
