This year DC-based, national non-profit the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s Blue Hope Bash goes nationwide welcoming an entire nation for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the community to unite and confront present-day challenges. The free virtual event will be a live national broadcast that will help raise funds to reverse the pandemic’s tremendous effect on the colorectal cancer community in addition to addressing the health disparities with the disease in Black communities. The event will feature special guest appearances, celebrity entertainment, and inspiring patient stories. The Alliance has a goal to raise $2 million from the broadcast to support its three core programmatic pillars: Screen, Care, and Cure.

The Art League’s Patrons’ Show Goes Virtual for 2021
This year The Art league presents Patron’s Show 2021: Virtual Edition!, an online version of the perennial favorite that art lovers from near and far can safely attend via Zoom on Saturday, February 20, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Patrons’ Show is the League’s biggest fundraising event of the year and offers seasoned and new art collectors an opportunity to select from over 600 works of original fine art donated by Art League and Torpedo Factory artists. For each ticket drawn, ticket holders acquire artwork valued anywhere from $225 to thousands of dollars.
The Patrons’ Show is now open for viewing during regular Gallery hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m. It is anticipated that the first two weekends of February will be busiest, so during this period there will be scheduled and timed viewing slots to ensure a safer environment.
Art lovers can also view the Patrons’ Show virtually on Flickr, and check back periodically to see what is added as we get closer to the show. Art Thief, the exclusive mobile app of the Patron’s Show, is available to download free on iOS devices. It lets you see all of the artworks and list and rank your favorites.
This year ticket holders make and submit a list of 75 or more of their top picks into an artwork list portal that the Patrons’ Show algorithm will pull and match with a ticket holder’s choice when their name is called on February 20. Selections can be edited and resubmitted up until the event begins.

Each month, educators from the National Portrait Gallery will partner with colleagues from across the Smithsonian to discuss how historical objects from their respective collections speak to today’s social justice issues. Why is it important to have agency in how we are portrayed? Together with our co-hosts from the Freer and Sackler, Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, we will explore this key question about representation in relationship to a 1937 photograph of actress Anna May Wong and an early 21st century photo-performance by Pushpamala N. As part of a series of events commemorating AAPI Heritage Month at Hook Hall a group of noted DC chefs will prepare a three-course dinner and offer a conversation between courses. The event, to be held at the Park View bar and event space and benefitting “Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate” will take place May 20 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The evening of food and drink will feature dinner prepared by Chefs Michelle Brown, Teaism; Kevin Tien, Moon Rabbit; and Eric Bruner Yang, Maketto.
Each course will be paired with cocktails by House of Suntory.
