La Famosa x Other Half Brewing Pop Up @ Other Half Brewing

Nay Yard based Puerto Rican restaurant La Famosa will host a pop-up in partnership with Other Half Brewing in Ivy City on Sunday, May 16th from 12 – 6 p.m. Chef Joancarlo Parkhurst and team will serve a lineup of Puerto Rican snacks such as Alcapurrias de Carne (plantain and yuca fritters stuffed with a savory beef picadillo OR impossible meat filling) and Bacalaito (salt cod fritter served with crema verde) on the brewery’s outdoor covered deck.

 

The brewery currently does not accept reservations and all outdoor seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Other Half Brewing is located at 1401 Okie Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.

Miss DC Contestant Talent Show @ Online

Tune in for a very special talent show hosted by Miss District of Columbia, Katelynne Cox! You’ll be able to see the 2021 contestants for Miss District of Columbia perform their talents and entertain audiences. One of these lucky ladies will go on to compete at Miss America later this year. Can you predict which one you’ll see on TV?

This ticket grants access to one (1) virtual attendee of the Miss District of Columbia virtual talent show. You will be emailed more information on how to virtually on the day of the talent show, June 2nd. Your entry fee will be donated to the American Childhood Cancer Organization to help them serve childhood cancer warriors in the DC area and beyond!

Tickets to this all virtual event are $5.  Proceeds will go to American Childhood Cancer Organization.

Join Mayor Bowser for the Pride Walk and Rally (Capital Pride Celebration 2021)

About this event

Join in this Saturday, June 12, to walk, celebrate, march, be visible, and amplify the rich culture of Washington, DC’s most favorite parade, the Capital Pride Parade!

Participants will gather at Dupont Circle at noon and prepare to walk, run, bike, rollerblade, stroll, etc., to Freedom Plaza.

Depart at 12:30 PM

  • Head down P ST NW to Logan Circle.
  • From Logan Circle, we will head south on 13th ST and finish at Freedom Plaza for the Pride Rally. No motor vehicles will be permitted.

If anyone cannot meet at Dupont Circle, please depart from your own neighborhood and make your way down to Freedom Plaza by 2:00 pm.

There will be a rally with music at Freedom Plaza that will be followed by the first Pridemobile Parade at 3:00 pm.

Drag Queen Storytime @ Unity Park

Drag Queen Storytime in Adams Morgan is free and open to children of all ages (and perfect for the entire family!). The goal of Drag Queen Storytime is to inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others. Join in Unity Park on the following dates (separate RSVPs required for each event):

  • Sunday, June 13 at 11am with Katie Magician
  • Sunday, July 11 at 11am with Katie Magician
  • Sunday, August 8 at 11am with Venus
  • Sunday, September 12 at 11am with Venus

This event is hosted in partnership with the Adams Morgan Partnership BID, The Line Hotel, and DC Public Library. The DC Public Library will be in attendance with their famous ‘Library on the Go-Go Book Bike’ – a library pop-up on wheels. The bike unfolds into shelves so community members can browse a small collection on the go, check out or return books, and get more information about library resources.

For those who are not able to travel to the UK for Royal Ascot this June, Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is holding a Royal Ascot Garden Party. On Friday, June 18th from 11:30 am until 3:00 pm, the Loggia and courtyard garden will be transformed into a Royal Ascot-themed park.  All guests donning hats, fascinators and Ascot attire will be eligible to win prizes for most authentic, fabulous, and over-the-top.

Royal Ascot is the unmissable event of the British summer social and sporting season, five spectacular days in June where world-class horse racing, fashion, pageantry, and the finest food abounds.

Fairmont’s Royal Ascot Garden Party will offer guests four options to enjoy dining on royal fare, sipping champagne, Pimm’s Cups, and gin & tonics in designated enclosures.  Large screens will showcase Royal Ascot scenes, and guests will enjoy pop-ups by Michael Kors and TheArtofHats Studio of Leesburg.   Land Rover of Alexandria* will showcase two new Land Rovers for photo ops in the hotel’s driveway.

Life-sized cutouts of the Royals will create perfect photo opportunities, staff members will don hats fit for the Royal Ascot, and prizes will be given for most creative fascinators, hats, and overall Royal Ascot Garden Party attire. Prizes will be provided by Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown, Land Rover of Alexandria, and Michael Kors Georgetown.

Fairmont All-American BBQ Brunch @ Fairmont - Georgetown

Before heading off to the National Mall, Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is offering a pre-fireworks all American BBQ brunch on Sunday, July 4th in Juniper Restaurant and courtyard.

From 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, patriots, their friends and families will enjoy an all-you-can-eat grill station.  Executive Chef Jordi Gallardo and his team, Chefs Mitch Eldridge and Jason Rowley, are firing up all-you-can-eat American burgers, lime jalapeno smoked baby ribs and smoked sausage rope.  Toppings include: sauerkraut, a variety of BBQ sauces, hot and mild mustard and BBQ smoked bourbon sauce.  Side dishes like baked potato salad, baked southern beans, corn on the cob, mixed harvest salad and southern coleslaw add to the all American menu.

Save room for Executive Pastry Chef A.J. Thalakkat’s dessert trio of blueberry crumble pie, caramel fudge brownie and red velvet cupcake.

           Juniper’s Red, White and BBQ Brunch is $43 per person, $21 for children 12 and under, including a soft drink or fruit juice.  Tax and gratuity is not included.
