[Vid] Spice Master Lior Lev Sercarz Stirs It Up at Special Visit to 2941 Restaurant

Celebrated Chef & Spice Master Lior Lev Sercarz visited 2941 Restaurant this weekend for an exclusive cooking class and dinner featuring recipes inspired by his latest cookbook, Mastering Spice: Recipes and Techniques to Transform Your Everyday Cooking.

Rejecting the notion that spices should be popular only around the holidays, Lev Sercarz — owner of New York City’s La Boîte — has built notoriety around his creative blends and memorable flavors. After working for notable chef Daniel Boulud at his flagship Daniel, Lev Sercarz opened La Boîte in 2008 and still works closely with chefs from around the world to develop custom spice blends at restaurants such as Daniel, Le Bernardin, Zahav, Momofuku Ssäm Bar, Momofuku Kawi, Del Posto, Blackbird Restaurant, and Michael Mina, and more.

Before Lev Sercarz and 2941 Restaurant’s Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel hosted a special eight-course dinner service with recipes inspired by Lev Sercarz’s latest cookbook, Lev Sercarz and Chemel also teamed up to teach a cooking class, demonstrating for guests how to create their own spice blend, followed by a cake and salad demonstration and tasting.

Over an intimate two hours, Lev Sercarz admitted that he does all of the cooking at home, he probably deserves an endorsement from ziplock, and that the #1 thing he learned working for Chef Daniel Boulud was that he didn’t want to own his own restaurant… watch to learn more from the Spice Master himself:
