Union Market Hosts Reunion Sunday Supper

DC has been in a food coma for the better part of the week… and not JUST because it’s Restaurant Week!

To kick off the food fest, there was a family style dinner last Sunday night at Union Market.  The city’s most renowned chefs came together to each prepare one course of a meaningful meal to benefit the James Beard Foundation and the Good Food Merchants Guild.

Established in 2012 as the first official James Beard foundation dinner benefit in DC, this year’s participants: Iron Gate’s Tony Chittum, Dolcezza Artisanal Gelato’s Robb Duncan, The Red Hen’s Michael Friedman, Katsuya Fukashima of Daikaya, Dylan Fultineer of Rappahannock Oyster Bar, DGS Delicatessen’s Barry Koslow, Ripple’s Marjorie Meek-Bradley, and John Mooney of Bell Book & Candle (many featured in lead image above), incorporated Union Market — and Good Food Award — vendors in their course planning, overwhelming attendees with edible awesomeness.

And this year, they made sure the meal ticket wasn’t too costly for all of the cravers.  Earlier in the day, a free event allowed the general public the chance to meet skilled food producers from across the Mid-Atlantic region and taste samples of some creations before the official Sunday Supper.
