Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Toddlers and Tiaras: A Miss America Watch Party

Crowns, sashes, socializing – and an appropriate amount of snark – took over the City Tavern Club Saturday night as K Street Kate and Queen Bee (Allison Brooks) hosted a viewing party for Miss America, complete with tiaras for guests, a small court of young princesses, and one oh-so-adorable-mini-man in a tux.

Ladies lingered over a table of hors d’oeuvres and chocolate covered confections as each made up her own Miss America style introductions (including little known facts!) and Sophie Pyle, Cherie Short, Jennifer Barrett and Suzy Kianpour took playful photos with a crown and sash from one of Miss America’s first years in Vegas.

A collective groan went out among the attendees, many dressed in sparkles and sashes, as the Top 15 were announced and Miss DC, Ashley Boalch, remained unnamed (Miss VA advanced to the Top 12, however).  Each then went on to cheer a different chosen favorite until Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaeppeler, took the title.
