Shrek Out, Snowman In: Gaylord Resort Announces 7th Annual ICE! Theme

Early Alert!!!

While it’s not exactly Christmas in July, the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor is already getting in the holiday spirit, today announcing the theme for its 7th annual return of ICE! and its Christmas on the Potomac holiday tradition.

(Shrek reigned in 2013, but this year, they’re bringing in everybody’s favorite Snowman.)

November 14th through January 4th, the award-winning ice attraction — and the resort’s 49-day Christmas on the Potomac celebration — will return with more than 2 million lights, indoor snowfall, a 60-foot-tall suspended glass Christmas tree, and more.  This year’s theme, Frosty the Snowman TM, brings the classic holiday favorite to life.

Carved from more than 2 million pounds of colorful ice and kept at a crisp nine degrees, guests will immerse themselves in life-size, favorite scenes of the magical TV special including: Frosty coming to life; marching through the Town Square; taking a train to the North Pole; and Santa coming to the rescue to make “melted Frosty” whole again.

Don’t worry — the signature two-story ice slide room will be back, and this time, it ends with a new, interactive Frostbite Factory experience where visitors will see first-hand how artisans from Harbin, China (known for its master ice carving skills) create the attraction.

Tickets are already available, including a variety of package options, some of which even include gingerbread house decorating, train rides on the Potomac Express, and a DreamWorks’ Madagascar Crack’ A Lackin’ Cook-in Character Breakfast — so you can be sure that all of your favorite characters are a part of your holiday festivities.
