Scream City Comes to Haunt DC

Steelhead Productions, the blood, sweat, and brains behind Olney, Maryland’s legendary spook spot Field of Screams, has a few new tricks and treats for DC. Scream City has made its home in lot 8A of RFK Stadium, right next to the DC Armory… and its haunts are ready for visitors all October long, and even through November 1st (if you dare).

“We wanted to reintroduce Halloween to the city, and give them a 5-star haunt experience,” said Michael Lado, spokesperson for Steelhead Productions.

A 5-star haunt experience is exactly what you get at Scream City, which is divided into two haunts, Exorcism Estate and the aptly named Slaughter Factory (the sound of the chainsaws is still echoing in my head). Exorcism Estate features dozens of talented actors who aren’t afraid to scream, taunt, or get in your personal space. It takes approximately 20 minutes to go through one of the two haunts, whether you walk slowly or are power walking for your life.

“We design our haunts to make sure that we have at least one or two of every fear people have, which is a total of 8 fears. We get you in different body positions, we make sure that there are different fears. We make sure that nobody escapes without being scared at least one or two times,” said Lado.

What is so incredible about Scream City is that when you walk through the curtain into the world of the Exorcism Estate, or into the Slaughter Factory, you instantly forget that you are in a tent in the middle of a parking lot at RFK Stadium.

Scream City is open weekends through the end of October (some Thursdays), and is open all Halloween week, October 27-November 1st. Are you brave enough for these haunts?
