Want a signature scent? Fan favorite create-your-own fragrance house Olfactory NYC is set to debut its first retail boutique in DC next month. The perfumery will open in Georgetown in the clapboard house that formerly housed Marine Layer (closed January 24, 2024) and was also once a Godiva Chocolatier.
Here, patrons create their own personalized fragrance by smelling a selection of nine core, gender-neutral fragrances and choosing a favorite to customize. They are then guided through layering onto each core scent until a perfect blend is achieved.
The custom scent is then freshly bottled — clients choose the bottle color and hand-stamped label name as well.
Founded in New York City by JJ Vittoria in 2017, the DC location of Olfactory NYC will be the brand’s fifth, after three boutiques in NYC and one in Boston. In addition to core and custom fragrances, Olfactory NYC offers travel sprays, body wash, body lotion, rinse-free hand wash, and soy-blend candles.
