Nifty Stories from NFTE’s 15th Dare to Dream Gala

Washingtonians are not always talking politics. Case in point: nifty entrepreneurial ideas took center stage at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s (NFTE) 15th Dare to Dream Gala in the Ritz Carlton ballroom Wednesday evening.

NFTE, an organization that provides entrepreneurship education programs in 21 states and 10 other countries, is helping create real-life inspirational stories such as that of Jordon Brooks. At 16, Brooks was expelled from high school and fighting the lure of the streets. Today, he is his high school’s valedictorian with his own graphic design business.

According to NFTE founder Steve Mariotti, the many stories presented at the gala are “just the beginning! One day, every child will learn how to start a business by the time they are 18!”

The annual event, which is Washington’s biggest fundraiser in support of youth entrepreneurship, drew together 700 teachers, students, business leaders, and community members including the evening’s emcee Eun Yang, Gala Chair Sid Banerjee, Cynthia Castillo, Tien Wong, and Peter Corbett.
