Great Escapes

As summer swelters on, K Street Kate caught up with some local personalities to find out their vacation dish… or wish!

“As the CEO of a small and growing company, vacation is the last thing on my radar,” says iStrategy LabsPeter Corbett (backpacking at left), who is currently speaking at a conference in Montana – and just celebrated a birthday!  “I’ll find an extra half day to relax during my big work trips.”

Politico Doug Heye laments his lack of vacation plans until Labor Day, when he’s flying off to Madrid.  “That should be fun.”

Spa siren Ada Polla of Alchimie Forever says her favorite destination is the island of Tinos in Greece (at right) where she’ll be spending some summer days.  “It’s a family house, with no internet, no TV, no radio, just peace and quiet. My mission of the summer – discovering the best Greek salad!”

“My favorite part of summer is the time I spend at a private—completely unspoiled—South Carolina beach with my children and husband,” shared Nice Shoes No Drama writer Leigh Macdonald. “We boogie board, float the inlets, and gather treasures like sharks’ teeth, old pottery, and sea glass.”

And you?  Tell us – or post a photo from – where your DC heat escape is happening on our Facebook page.  One lucky winner will receive two free rounds of golf at the H Street Country Club!
