Cirque du Soleil’s Travel Bug

Cirque du Soleil‘s resident sexy spider said the hardest part of touring with the circus-inspired group whose latest show focuses on the lives of insects isn’t the jaw-dropping acrobatics or stunning visuals: it’s the traveling.
“I’m excited to see what I can do while I’m here,” Robyn Houpt told us during a special VIP dress rehearsal last night at National Harbor where she revealed it was her first time in D.C.
“That’s the best thing about touring with Cirque du Soleil — traveling, seeing all of the different cities, having so many new experiences. But it’s also hard to be on the move all the time so I guess the best and the worst things about life on tour are the same.”
The latest installment from the group — Ovo, meaning egg — explores the magical life of insects and features handbalancers, acrobats and contortionists among its performers.
“Which came first, the bug or the egg?” joked Houpt. “I think it was the egg.”

OVO runs at National Harbor through October 24th.
