Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

DCers Toast to their Mrs. America Local Queen

It was a mix of pageantry, fashion and philanthropy Friday night as Bravo RHODC’s Mary Amons (below right, in blue) and W DSC07837rSalon’s Souny West (left, in purple) hosted a “Toast with the Queen: Reception and Fundraiser,” which brought professionals from across the city together to wish Mrs. DC Meagan B. Barnes well as she heads off to compete in Mrs. America.

Barnes, an IT Consultant in the DC metro area, is also a former DSC07826rchampion basketball player. She will compete with the service platform of “Women’s Mental Health” as the pageant moves toward the final round on August 28th in Tucson, Arizona.

DSC07846rMonday’s Send-Off, held at Barcode Lounge, also served to benefit Luke’s Wing’s, an organization which unites wounded warriors, veterans and heroes with their loved ones when they need them most.
