Ashok Bajaj’s Knightsbridge Restaurant Group has a long list of popular dining spots (Sababa, Modena, Bindaas, La Bise, Annabelle, Rasika, Little Blackbird…). But The Bombay Club was his very first.

In 1988, Bajaj had to convince his landlord that this prime location — one block from the White House — should be a fine-dining Indian restaurant. Thirty-five years later, it’s still one of the Capital’s top-tier dining establishments, frequented by the who’s who of Washington… and Hollywood, too!

In 2021, the popular restaurant underwent a major renovation, and now the “old school” restaurant’s shiny and sophisticated dining room is ready to be paired with Bombay Club’s storied past —  just in time to celebrate its milestone 35th anniversary!

From December 11 through Saturday, December 16, The Bombay Club will celebrate the anniversary with a heritage menu of favorite dishes and a little something extra. The special anniversary menu will showcase many of the signature dishes that Bajaj told KSM have truly put the restaurant on the map — and are still some of the most popular and requested by its elite guests.

Starters on this menu include such favorites as the CRAB MASALA (lump crab, fennel, onions, curry leaves), DUCK KEBAB (chilies, garlic, nutmeg), TANDOORI SCALLOPS (mustard, tomato chutney), and MANGO SHRIMP (chili pepper, mango chutney).

Featured classic main dishes brought back to tempt diners include SALI BOTI (lamb, apricot, straw potato), GREEN CHILI CHICKEN (dill, tomato, cilantro, chili pepper), and LAMB PALAK (spinach, garlic, cinnamon, clove), among others. But did you know the surprising dish that Bajaj credits with The Bombay Club’s success? The TANDOORI SALMON (sustainable, yogurt, garam masala). This unusual and scrumptious stunner is an absolute must-order!

Each guest who dines at the restaurant during dinner service during the anniversary week will also enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne to toast 35 years of distinction.

The Bombay Club serves lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm; dinner Monday through Thursday, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Friday and Saturday, from 5:30 pm to 10 pm.
