Little Blackbird Pairs Perfectly in Cleveland Park

Cleveland Park needed its new Little Blackbird Wine Bar (3309 Connecticut Avenue). Not just because the area was sorely missing Bardeo (which closed in 2016), but also because this place is sure to be a destination experience that adds a little whimsy to the wine bar experience.

Little Blackbird is adorable immediately upon entry. But beyond its cute botanical wallpaper and classic French café window treatments, guests can enjoy a fine dining experience with a gentle push toward the unexpected.

The space is adjacent to Sababa, and Executive Chef Ryan Moore, who helms the kitchen at the Israeli restaurant, also oversees this new Knightsbridge Restaurant Group neighborhood gem. And he presents an interesting menu!

Diners may not anticipate a “sausage of the day” offering. Icelandic Cod, Roasted Squid, and Bronzino are also popular (with wine pairings suggested!).

The wine list, extensive on wines by the bottle, also has a dozen by the glass, as well as craft cocktails and a few mocktails — but no non-alcoholic wine, a missed opportunity at a wine bar to be sure. But the best part is that the wine-by-the-glass menu offers half-pours! Great if you want just a little — or want to try a variety of interesting options.

There is also a Playful Pairings menu which suggests some crazy cool wine and sweets collabs. (Banyuls and Junior Mints?! Must try!)

A rotating menu and plenty of tempting tastes give diners many reasons to return.
