Make no mistake, BvB isn’t powder puff – and it’s certainly more than a hair color competition. The 6th annual Blondes vs. Brunettes Charity Football Game tackled Alzheimer’s Disease last Saturday at the GWU Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
The ladies of Team Blonde and Team Brunette spent months practicing and fundraising for this one day of athleticism and advocacy.

“Saturday was amazing,” gushed Blonde, Judy Mayka, who opted to serve as PR Chair this year instead of clocking in her usual time on the field.  “The weather was fantastic and the game was even better, going into overtime and then finally, after 5 years, the Blondes pulled through for a victory!”

Indeed, for the very first time, the Blondes took home the trophy, beating the Brunettes 26-20 in overtime play – this win a long time coming for those who had played with the Blondes since the fundraiser’s inception.
“It felt great!  But the real winner is the National Capital Area Alzheimer’s Association,” Mayka reminded.  “We have raised over 100K this year and counting…can’t wait till 2011!”
