There was despair and disbelief in the ale and lager loving community on December 7th… when the Brickskeller, DC’s decades-long center of beer culture, announced it would be closing its doors.
Boasting over 1,030 choices of bottled beer, Brickskeller had been named by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “bar with the largest selection of commercially available beers.”
But just 11 days after the former brew basement closed its doors, another draft den was hopping to it. With a new name and new ownership, Bier Baron opened on December 29th, still selling off a load of ‘skeller’s saloon inventory and pledging better service moving forward (basically by promising to cross unavailable bottles off the menu).
Open now, Bier Baron offers hundreds of known/unknown/craft curiosities, standard pub fare, and – coming soon! – a renovated upstairs Euro-style Inn for when your barley’s got you over the barrell.
