Author Lori Gottlieb Introduces ‘Mr. Good Enough’

Forty and single, author Lori Gottlieb decided she needed to stop chasing Mr. Right and settle down.

In town recently to promote her latest book, “Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough,” she advocated both for deep, meaningful love… and finding a good ‘8’ and sticking with him!

“It’s the checklists that really trip people up,” insists Gottlieb, believing that single women today pass up lots of Mr. Rights because of unrealistic expectations.

“You don’t need 100% of everything you might want – because you don’t have 100% of what he wants either.  All relationships involve some degree of compromise.  That’s not settling. That’s maturity.”

Gottlieb, a single mother who once advocated for setting sights at the highest, is now suggesting that the bar be lowered.  And her new push to find a simply “suitable” mate may be leaving some with mixed signals.

“I still believe in holding out for Mr. Right!  But I’ve learned a lot.  If I’d known ten years ago what I know now about what would be important in my life, I would have made different choices with men.”
