Annual Libertarian Dinner Gets Shaken, Not Stirred

Secret Agents, Bond Girls and a few henchmen collected at the J.W Marriott Thursday night for the annual Competitive Enterprise Institute dinner and reception.

Policy professionals, scholars, congressional staff, and CEI supporters gathered to celebrate another year of the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s “advocacy for freedom” at its annual dinner — this year James Bond themed.

Guests quoted their favorite 007 movies, got the GoldenEye for a gourmet dinner, and reminded each other to Never Say Never Again as things got a bit political: Keynote speaker Senator Rand Paul (above) opened the evening with a speech on the importance of freedom, liberty and upholding the Constitution.

Founder Fred Smith, Jr.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute is a non-profit, libertarian think tank that was founded 29 years ago in Washington, DC by Fred L. Smith, Jr. (right). It is dedicated to advancing the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual freedom.

The organization’s President Lawson Bader explained that, while CEI is an ideas organization, it is also activist in its nature. Founder Smith jokingly elaborated, “You can write a really great sex manual, but that won’t make babies!”

Now we know what Bond said to all of his Beauties.
