Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. A Taste of Iceland’s Upcoming DesignMarch in DC

A festival of Icelandic Design and Architecture, DesignMarch, is taking place in Iceland from April 24-28, 2024.

In advance of this year’s DesignMarch, one of last year’s most popular and creative design programs —#PizzaTime — stopped into the Icelandic Ambassador’s Residence to make freshly felted wool “pizzas” made from leftovers from the Icelandic textile industry.

Ambassador of Iceland to the United States, Bergdís Ellertsdóttir, said “This is our first… design test in DC, and I hope that we will connect to those in the design scene here.”

She added, “Today we [in Iceland] have so many great designers. There is a great design scene in Iceland, and we are even exporting design! That is an achievement.”
