Rural Society: Argentine Redemption

So Argentina didn’t pull it out at the World Cup… but the country still gets a WIN at the new Rural Societywhich just opened in the Loews Madison Hotel.  Celebrate Commiserate with other fans on their patio with a Quilmes (Argentina) beer.  Move your friends over to the lounge to try photo 2 (8)out their collection of 75 whiskeys and 25 Italian Aperitifs.  Or taste Patagonia’s perfection (or the best of Buenos Aires if you prefer) inside or at any of the restaurant’s spacious private lounge dining rooms.

The restaurant’s name — Rural Society — was inspired by La Sociedad Rural Argentina which brought farm fresh to the big city for over a century.  And Chef Jose Garces has definitely created a menu that won’t disappoint the tradition.

You will want to start your meal with Fiambres, (Argentinian charcuterie), then maybe consider something from the parilla… whether grass-fed Uruguayan rib-eye and prime dry-aged NY strip or Jidori free-range chicken and jumbo cardinal prawns, this restaurant is as hot as its flaming wood-fired grill.

photo 2 (9)And since it is a society after all, you won’t want to leave without meeting sommelier Aaron Beaver (left), one of the most popular members of the Rural Society team.  He mans “the cathedral,” a corner room of all glass bordering 15th and M Streets, NW — and invites you (and up to five of your friends) for a personal tasting on an extraordinary range of South American wines (More than half on the menu are available by the glass!).

*Rural Society is located at 1177 15th Street NW.
