Womenomics

Good Morning America‘s Claire Shipman and BBC NewsKatty Kay presented a personal and provocative discussion with Thursday afternoon at the Four Seasons, hosted by Baker Botts, LLP, delving into the ladies’ book Womenomics, which predicts an upcoming paradigm shift in the way individuals and companies approach work.

“For women, time is the new currency,” argued Shipman, who believes this shift reflects changing priorities of women toward balancing work and personal life.  Pushing for a career “wave” instead of the traditional ladder concept, Shipman suggested that flex time work arrangements are the key to a woman’s need for more home and family time while pursuing a demanding career.

“We often shape it in terms of kids versus career, and it doesn’t have to be that way,”  added Kay.  “We need to redefine success and know that… women have power.  We don’t have to do it all to have it all.”
