Landscape architect CeCe Haydock will delve into the history and landscape design of the elaborate gardens of Long Island’s Gold Coast, once a favorite retreat of the rich and famous.

On Tuesday, February 11, from 7:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m., The G.O.A.T. Sports Bar (www.thegoatva.com) in Clarendon will host Fundraiser for Australian Wildlife in support of the animals devastated by the recent wildfires. Proceeds will benefit Animals Australia – Australia’s foremost national animal protection organization – with $10 donations collected at the door, which includes two drink tickets. Animals Australia is providing resources and support to expert veterinarians and caretakers tending to needs of affected wildlife. The G.O.A.T. is located at 3028 Wilson Boulevard.

But the real stars of the show are all the wedding crashers in the audience, as there are plenty of roles ready to be filled by willing volunteers. Ariana Lightningstorm, one of only eight certified lipsologists and the first certified teacher of lipsology in the world, will hold complimentary lipsology readings at Dirty Habit on Friday, February 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests are invited to swipe on lipstick, kiss their one-of-a-kind card, and learn about their lip-print messages with Ariana’s signature humor and insight.

“I am not your mascot, and I don’t live in a tipi. See me for who I am, hear me say my name.” How do stereotypes of American Indians, prejudice, and identity shape the discussion of what it means to be a young person in our country today? This original multimedia play, created in collaboration with Smithsonian Associates Discovery Theater, tackles America’s assumptions about American Indians and starts a conversation with audiences reclaiming rich history, challenges, hopes, and dreams. After the play, the audience is invited to explore the museum’s Americans exhibition to learn more.

While secretly battling a fatal illness, rock icon David Bowie crafted what would be his final album: the stark yet adventurous Blackstar. The record takes some surprising jazz-fusion turns in the midst of the Starman facing his own mortality. Composer, performer, and MIT professor Ziporyn pays tribute to the late Bowie by transforming Blackstar into a cello concerto for avant-garde cellist Beiser, backed by the Ambient Orchestra.

Crack the Sky have an impressive prog rock résumé. The group spent the ’70s touring with everyone from Frank Zappa to ELO, and their eponymous debut album was named Rolling Stone’s Debut Album of the Year in 1975. Since then, the band has been a fixture of the Baltimore music scene and has continued to put on live shows punctuated by quirky rhythms and lyrics that highlight singer-mastermind John Palumbo’s satirical worldview.
