20 local artists in a variety of disciplines will be exhibiting over 100 pieces all priced under $750 at “Real Art on a Shoestring” at SR/A La Collection in downtown Bethesda. This notable event aims to show the average consumer that owning original art is not out of their budget.
The opening reception will occur on April 26 from 6:00 – 8:30pm. “Real Art on a Shoestring” will be on display through summer 2018.
SR/A La Collection is the retail gallery arm of SR/A Interior Design, a boutique commercial interior design firm. SR/A showcases a revolving collection of artists and antiques in the 3500 SF gallery space that fronts their office-space in downtown Bethesda. Unlike typical art galleries, SR/A believes art shows best as it would in a person’s home – surrounded by furniture, accessories and antique treasures. As original art has a reputation for being too expensive, for this show SR/A has partnered with 20 local artists to bring the public affordable, yet exquisite pieces – all for $750 or below.
This event plays on the well-known phrase, “on a shoestring,” to prove that creative pieces can be found on a smaller budget. The list of participating artists includes local favorites such as Linda Cafritz, Mark Schwenk, Fabiano Amin, Stefanie Stark, and more!

Career Contessa, the only career site built specifically for women, and Trunk Club, a personal styling service, are teaming up for the second time on an epic event series, “Women Who Mean Business,” with this year’s focus on female leadership.
The events will take place Trunk Club Washington D.C. (May 16), and and will feature empowered women celebrating their careers through a night of panel discussions, networking, and other career focused advice.
Last year’s inspiring panel speakers included female leaders from some of the country’s most
buzzworthy and influential brands, including Instagram, Cupcakes and Cashmere and Dollar
Shave Club. This year, the panel will feature powerful women from Google, Beauty Bioscience,
Joss & Main and, of course, Career Contessa, who will explore topics such as how to build
resilience as a leader, serve as a mentor to other women, and cultivate effective teams through
insight from real women’s experiences.
Beyond the panel discussion, the night will be an ideal opportunity for attendees to connect with
likeminded women through curated networking sessions and mutual inspiration. Guests can expect professional photographers on hand to take LinkedIn headshots, as well plenty of foodie-
friendly treats, delicious drinks, and a surprise gift for the first 50 attendees.

SweatCon Rally flips the script on a bar crawl and instead of drinking 175 participants will sweat at boutique fitness studios around the city. Completing three thirty minute classes at three different studios back-to-back-to-back. From Dupont Circle to Shaw we’ve partnered with 15 of the hottest boutique studios including Corepower Yoga, Solidcore, Cut Seven, Orangetheory, and Cyclebar.
Prior to kicking off the work outs, we will throw a kick-ass check-in party featuring like-minded brands to create a unique experience for all attendees. This year the new 880P will host the check-in party with a GLAMSQUAD braid bar, sweetgreen salad bar, juice bar by JRINK, animated GIF booth courtesy ofMINDBODY, DJ and shopping courtesy of our title sponsor Reebok. Over the last three years we have put on three SweatCon Rally events in Boston. The first hosting 30 people, then 200 and the most recent event with 450 participates (selling out in five days with a waitlist of 250 people). Building off the success of Boston we knew it was time to bring this event to more cities. This spring came to Boston (4/28), New York (5/12) and now Washington, D.C. (6/16).
