SUPERFIERCE—an organization aimed at creating a foundation of support, connectivity and resources to empower female artists will host a month-long art exhibit featuring more than 30 nationally and locally known female artists, photographers and sculptors. Artists include Anne Marchand, Ashley Longshore, Caitlyn Price, Dominique Fierro, Julie Wolfe, Kennedy Yanko, Lana Gomez, Maggie O’Neill, Maryanne Pollock, and more. These interactive installations will be on display with all work available for purchase. 25% of all proceeds will be donated to E-Beauty, an organization that supports women undergoing treatment for cancer through their wig exchange program.  Ongoing activation events are available to the public including an all-ages paint party, Art of Business networking event, and The Business of Beautiful panel discussion. It’s time…

To sign up for this year’s DC Tweed Ride! They’ve done it every year since 2009, and they’re not stopping now.

Meet up October 29 around noon at a secret location (that will be shared with those who sign up for the ride). You’ll cruise through District streets, take breaks for pictures and snacks, and then gather for a night of merriment and style at Roofers Union.
The party will be going strong from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and will feature the legendary Dandy Wellington and His Band, food, drinks, and the most stylish dandies and dames on this side of the Atlantic!

Three types of ticket are available:

  • Free Ride Registration ticket (enables us to e-mail you with start location details on 10/27/2017),*
  • Ticket to the Jazz Age Jam at Roofers Union without food or
  • Ticket to our Jazz Age Jam at Roofers Union with food.**

* You must register for the ride to receive the ride information and start location, even if you purchase party tickets. Each adult rider must register separately.

**Tickets that include the buffet meal must be purchased by October 26 to provide the venue with enough notice to prepare for our hungry riders.

 

Dust off those vintage bikes and browse your favorite vintage and thrift shops — it’s time for fall’s best social ride!

Grab your ticket below and meet us Sunday, October 29 around noon at a secret location (that will be disclosed to those who sign up for the ride.)

We’ll cruise through 10-12 miles at an easy pace, take breaks for pictures and snacks, and shortly after the ride ends, we’ll gather at Roofers Union in Adams Morgan for a night of music, dancing, and style.

Providence Uncorked @ Longview Gallery

At this event, local restaurants, chefs, and bars donate food, beverages and/or their culinary skills to set the tone for a fun, casual evening. Over 175 Guests at Uncorked! mix-and-mingle while sampling dishes provided by participating chefs, and then vote for their favorite dish – at the end of the evening whichever chef has the most “votes” is named the Providence Uncorked Champion.

Acting as culinary ambassador and lead participant for the second year in a row is chef Alex McCoy, owner of Alfies and Lucky Buns. Other participating chefs this year include Alex Garcia (The Capital Grille), Travis Weiss (Rebellion & Commodore), Zachary Ridenhour (Sixth Engine/The Salt Line) and Johanna Hellrigl (Johanna’s Table).

The hospital, which is located in Brookland, was founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1861 and had its charter signed by President Abraham Lincoln. Its mission is to care for all regardless of their background or ability to pay.

Food & Friends Pie Day @ Farragut Suare

Food & Friends will be hosting a community Pie Day in support of its annual Slice of Life Pie Selling Campaign, which funds nutritious, home-delivered meals and groceries to the critically ill in our community. During the event, we will be distributing information aboutSlice of Life and giving away FREE samples of our delicious pies that are for sale to raise funds to support Food & Friends’ mission.

DETAILS:        The 11th Annual Slice of Life Thanksgiving pie sale is a simple and delicious way for members of the public to support Food & Friends’ large-scale effort to deliver 1 million healthy meals this year to those in the community living with life-challenging illnesses. The goal this year is to sell 9,000 pies. Each pie purchased will provide ONE FULL DAY of meals, from our kitchen to delivery, for a Food & Friends client.

 

During the event, community members will have the chance to sample our Pumpkin and Apple pies and cast their vote for their favorite flavor! The winner of our “In Pie We Crust” election will go on a flash sale for the remainder of the afternoon. Everyone who votes will be entered into a drawing to win a full Thanksgiving dinner for 4, plus 2 pies.

 

Pies may be purchased directly from Food & Friends or through one of our corporate or individual pie sellers. Visitwww.foodandfriends.org/pie to find a directory of pie sellers, to sign up to help sell pies or to purchase online. Pie sales close on Thursday, November 16th. Pre-purchased pies can be picked up on Tuesday, November 21st at Food & Friends or 30+ convenient locations throughout the region.
