• NaLa Fridays at the Park: National Landing’s favorite concert series is back and better than ever, bringing live music, food trucks and fun in the summer sun to Long Bridge Park.The series continues every Friday at 5PM with performances by: Jerel Crockett (7/29); Thunderpaw (8/5); Soul Crackers (8/12); Critical Condition Band (8/19); DJ 2 Tone (9/2); La Unica (9/9); Sharif (9/16); Jerel Crockett (9/23). Bring your lawn chairs and a few friends and get ready to dance the night away!

• Movies in the Park: Catch a Friday night flick at Virginia Highlands Park every week from July 29 through September 16. Grab a bite from a food truck or pack your own picnic to enjoy on Softball Field 3. Movies will begin at 7 PM and will include: The First Lego Movie (7/29); Tron (8/5); Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (8/12); Encanto (8/19); Sonic 2 (8/26); Ready Player One (9/2); Raya and the Last Dragon (9/9); and Spiderman No Way Home (9/16).

• National Landing Market: Shop local every Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM at the National Landing Market. Continuing on Saturday, August 6, 2661 S Clark Street will be transformed into a hub of local retailers, including: No Encores Club, Capital Vintage, the Common Tote, and more. The market is produced in partnership with Gould Property Company as part of the National Landing BID’s Rock the Lot Series. A full list of vendors is available here.

Hook Hall, the Parkview bar and event space at 3400 Georgia Ave NW, will become a giant skating rink Saturday Aug 6 as two rolling events will take over the hall. The skate day has been created in conjunction with The LinkUpDC https://www.thelinkupdc.com/ , the DC-based organization that supports youth and community building through skating.

From 2 until 7 pm, family-friendly activities will happen in Hook Hall with roller skating, skate lessons, face painting, games, dancing to music by DJ Lanlan and DJ Mari, ice cream floats and adult beverages.

The family-fun skate afternoon tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $15 for kids under 18. An all-day pass is available at $35 for adults. Skate rentals are available.

That night from  8 pm until 2 am,  Hook Hall, with its Summer Safari theme, becomes “Safari En Blanc”,  a skating party where guests are encouraged to dress in white with a touch of animal print. DJ Prodigy will set the beat and special drinks will be offered.

Tickets for Safari En Blanc are $20, guests must be 21 or older.

Hook Hall – 3400 Georgia Ave NW – DC

KAMA DC and the Heurich House Museum present an “Immigrant-Owned Mini Markt” on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 3-8 pm in the Museum’s biergarten, 1921.

Shop from 10 immigrant-owned small local businesses at a special Mini Markt curated by KAMA DC, a volunteer-led organization working to provide a platform for immigrants to share their skills and stories.

Vendors will be announced this week on social media.

The museum was once the home of brewmaster Christian Heurich, who immigrated to the U.S. in 1866 from Germany. Today, the museum explores the American Dream through the legacy of historic Heurich household staff, brewery workers, and the craftspeople who built the home — many of whom were immigrants — while also supporting DC’s modern workers through our Small Business Development program, creating a more equitable path to success for small-scale manufacturers.

This event is free to attend. Registration is recommended, but not required. Donations may be made to KAMA DC during online registration or at the Markt.

The biergarten features fresh local craft beer from DC breweries and an opportunity to explore HOME/BREWED, an exhibit featuring 1,000 objects from the historic Heurich brewery. Masks are recommended in indoor spaces. 1921, a Biergarten supports the museum’s Small Business Development programs.

The Yards is inviting guests to start their mornings with free yoga classes, every Tuesday in August! Led by yoga and meditation instructor, Calm with Carlyn, these summer morning sessions will be sure to add balance to your routine all month long. There’s no better place to hone your practice than along the scenic Capitol Riverfront, so roll out your mats and enjoy the fresh air during this hour-long Vinyasa flow. Guests are encouraged to arrive early as the first 25 people will get a free yoga block to use in their daily practice!
