Head to Whino for a whisky tasting with local, woman-owned-and-operated Catoctin Creek Distilling Company on Wednesday, April 13th! Catoctin Creek Distilling, located an hour away in Purcelville, VA, currently produces the 5th highest-selling Rye Whisky in Virginia: Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye, inspired by the whiskeys made in Virginia by the American forefathers centuries ago. Guests will get to taste and learn about three different expressions of this whisky: the original Roundstone Rye, the Roundstone Rye Distiller’s Edition, and the Roundstone Rye Cask Proof Series.
Ticket price is $35 + tax and fees and includes the Three 1oz Tastings of the following:
Roundstone Rye
40% ABV: 100% Unmalted Rye Grain sourced from within 100 miles of the distillery, Single Barrel, Non-Chill Filtered aged to taste in 30 gallon Minnesota white oak barrels at a number 3 char. Solar Power made, Organic and certified Kosher, 100% made in house from grain to glass. From grain to glass 100% American made.
Roundstone Rye Distiller’s Edition
46% ABV: 1 out of 10 barrels are uniquely selected for the Distiller’s Edition Roundstone Rye. The grain is exclusively made from 100% Virginia Rye and aged in Virginia White Oak Barrels at a number 3 char. These casks have been aged further for a more intense barrel extraction and then bottled at a higher proof creating a more aromatic, rich, robust, brown cabinet spicy, woody rye with floral, dried fruit and dark fruit notes leading to a smoother mouthfeel and a longer, lingering and assertive finish.
Roundstone Rye Cask Proof Series
58% ABV (limited availability in VA ABC Stores): Only 1 out of a 100 barrels are selected for our cask proof series. Hand picked and unbridled rye from our barns in Virginia. Excellent quality casks that are too good to cut. We simply take these barrels back home and bottle them as they are. Our highest awarded whisky to date. Each release is unique but we are looking for casks that truly have a beginning, middle and end with a sweet and aromatic nose, a big round buttery mouthfeel and flavorful long lasting finish.
