On November 19th, Meridian International Center, in collaboration with the National Museum of Women in the Arts, is pleased to present Diplomacy X Design, a virtual panel to discuss the role of Fashion in Diplomacy moderated by New York Times chief fashion critic, Vanessa Friedman, with four innovative leaders in fashion: Wes Gordon, creative director, Carolina Herrera; Mara Hoffman, founder and creative director, Mara Hoffman; Abrima Erwiah, co-founder and co-creative director of Studio One Eighty; and Aurora James, founder and creative director, Brother Vellies.
The creative economy in which we are engaged, provides for us a way to engage and express our individual style and emotions. Today, fashion and the business of fashion even more so, has provided platforms for activism on the topics of sustainability, inclusivity, cultural appropriation, and racial and social equity. What we choose to put ON our body is a decision as much as what we choose to put IN our body. What we wear reflects who we are, our politics, and social change.

Holiday Drive-In Movie

Tysons Corner Center is bringing back it’s Drive-In Movie Nights. The fun will kick-off at 5:00 PM (movie starts at 7:30 PM) and will last until the movie has concluded with food available from participating eateries as well as some live entertainment, trivia, and music prior to the show. Tickets for Elf will be released the week of November 23rd.

Those Funny Little People – Virtual Holiday Performance

Those Funny Little People is a one-of-a-kind entertainment company with life-sized puppets who dance, sing, and make people laugh. Making their television debut in 2011, Those Funny Little People appeared on the TV show America’s Got Talent as four elves, an agent, and a showgirl. The group resonated with audiences everywhere and placed within the top 36 acts. Enjoy their holiday entertainment from the comfort of your home. Virtual Family Fun: Miniature Garden Workshop

Celebrate Earth Day and connect with nature as you build a magical, miniature world, inspired by Hillwood’s Japanese-style garden, in the first gardening workshop for families.
Break out your lederhosen and dirndls and head to The Boro to celebrate Oktoberfest featuring a Battle of the Polka Bands! This unique, family-friendly fete will feature a battle of the bands-style competition where traditional and modern polka bands will go head to head to be crowned the fan favorite!
On Saturday, October 2, The Boro will feature the sights and sounds of a true Oktoberfest with themed decorations, crafts, and fitting drinks from the Sandlot Tysons. Guests of all ages are invited to take part in the themed activities including photo booths, craft stations, and a variety of outdoor games located all around the park. And don’t miss out on the exciting free giveaways like Oktoberfest-themed beer mugs, inflatable pretzels, party buttons, and more!

Back to school season is finally here, that’s why The Yards, DC’s most exciting waterfront neighborhood for living, dining, shopping, and relaxing, is bringing back their fan-favorite event, Back To The Yards!
