Part of our new Dance Wellness Series! Try on different styles of dance while beating the winter blues in these fitness-focused classes held the first Saturday of the month, November 2019 through March 2020. Each class will be offered in collaboration with a local dance fitness professional or organization. All experience levels welcome and celebrated.

The 16th Annual Alexandria Warehouse Sale returns to on Saturday, February 8, in the heart of Old Town. Deemed in the region the longest-running boutique driven warehouse sale, the popular mid-winter event will take place at the Westin Hotel located in the Carlyle District of Old Town Alexandria. The fun, yet casual, free to enter event will include a variety of new boutiques and retailers not only located in Alexandria, but throughout the Metro region.

The event is also giving away early entry into the Warehouse Sale to four lucky shoppers. Astro Beer Hall, the newest partnership concept between Tin Shop and Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, is partnering with dance party fitness class, 305 Fitness, for a brunch pop-up on Leap Day. Hosted on the mezzanine level of Astro Beer Hall, the morning starts off with 305 Fitness’ signature 55-minute cardio dance party class, led by one of the studio’s most popular instructor’s, Byron Smith. The pop-up class will feature aerobic choreography moves set to high-energy dance tunes from a curated playlist. Following the class, guests can enjoy items from Astro Beer Hall’s recently launched weekend brunch menu including bottomless coffee, a mimosa, and of course, hot cake doughnuts. Pizzeria Paradiso in Spring Valley will host a safe and socially distanced “Pizza and Dance Party” this coming Sunday in the vacant parking lot across the street from the restaurant, located at 48th Street and Windom Place, NW.
The morning starts off with 305 Fitness’ signature 55-minute cardio dance party class, led by one of the studio’s most popular instructors, Owoade Kadara. The pop-up class will feature aerobic choreography moves set to high-energy dance tunes from a curated playlist. Following the class, guests can take a short walk across the street to Pizzeria Paradiso Spring Valley (located at 4850 Massachusetts Avenue, NW) for a fresh out-of-the-oven pizza pie or lunch sized salad, which can be enjoyed on the restaurant’s patio or for takeout.

BMA x NMWA: Healing
Join us for BMA x NMWA, a livestreamed monthly talk show presented by The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) and the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA). In this virtual program, educators from both museums discuss concepts of healing in art. Special guests include NMWA’s Director of Public Programs Melani N. Douglass and Public Programs Manager Amanda Vercruysse to discuss the participatory online exhibition RECLAMATION: Recipes, Remedies, and Rituals.

The Art League’s Patrons’ Show Goes Virtual for 2021
This year The Art league presents Patron’s Show 2021: Virtual Edition!, an online version of the perennial favorite that art lovers from near and far can safely attend via Zoom on Saturday, February 20, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Patrons’ Show is the League’s biggest fundraising event of the year and offers seasoned and new art collectors an opportunity to select from over 600 works of original fine art donated by Art League and Torpedo Factory artists. For each ticket drawn, ticket holders acquire artwork valued anywhere from $225 to thousands of dollars.
The Patrons’ Show is now open for viewing during regular Gallery hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m. It is anticipated that the first two weekends of February will be busiest, so during this period there will be scheduled and timed viewing slots to ensure a safer environment.
Art lovers can also view the Patrons’ Show virtually on Flickr, and check back periodically to see what is added as we get closer to the show. Art Thief, the exclusive mobile app of the Patron’s Show, is available to download free on iOS devices. It lets you see all of the artworks and list and rank your favorites.
This year ticket holders make and submit a list of 75 or more of their top picks into an artwork list portal that the Patrons’ Show algorithm will pull and match with a ticket holder’s choice when their name is called on February 20. Selections can be edited and resubmitted up until the event begins.
The 2021 Patrons’ Show will broadcast live from The Art League Gallery. Don’t miss your chance to gain fine art while supporting a great non-profit organization and community of artists! Tickets are on sale until they sell out.
Past Tense Yoga and Tabla, DC’s second Georgian restaurant, have partnered together for a yoga and cooking event, Flow + Feast. On Saturday, March 13, starting at 5:00 p.m., the virtual workshop kicks off with a 45-minute flow class led by instructor Meagan Estep.
Following the class, registrants will learn all about Georgian food and wine with a three-course dinner and a khachapuri-making demo from Tabla. Students must pre-register for class, and dinner kits will be available for pickup from the new Past Tense studio (located at 3221 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW *alley entrance) on Saturday, March 13 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The class includes a three-course dinner for two, with a “make at home” ajaruli khachapuri kit (includes ball of dough and cheese filling) and prepared pkhali: a vegetable paté of roasted carrots, walnuts and spices as well as khinkali: Georgian soup dumplings made with either pork and beef, sweet potato and ‘imeruli’ cheese or lamb (reheating instructions will be provided). *Following the yoga class, the Tabla team will lead a demonstration on how to form and shape the khachapuri dough.
