Thrillest EIC Keeps Current at the National Press Club

In an effort to explain his company’s role in what he described as lifestyle news’ “pure noise,” Thrillist Editor-in-Chief Adam Rich spoke at the National Press Club Wednesday night.  Addressing a crowd made up mostly of the type of young manly-men who read Thrillist’s e-mail newsletter and a healthy portion of young writers hoping to land a job with the growing company, Rich explained Thrillist’s growth since 2006 and how it searches for new ways to remain relevant today.

“The average guy wants to find a good drink, a good place to eat, and to look cool.  We filter through all of the crap and get to the good stuff,” claims Rich.  “But content isn’t really just content anymore – it’s commerce, too.  We’re working to editorialize the shopping experience.”

Other local content creators in the room had to admire Rich’s unapologetic attitude toward the Thrillist model. Quipped Rich, “We hope that everyday you’re gonna have an experience with us- even if it’s just deleting us.”
