Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Paula Mendoza Jewelry Designs

I got a ton of compliments on my jewelry last night… and it wasn’t even mine! HUGE thank you to Paula Mendoza for lending me a pair of her gorgeous emerald earring designs to complement my cocktail dress for a busy evening of charity activities.

Paula is more than your traditional Colombian beauty. She is a passionate, exuberant and talented artist who takes inspiration from the world around her. Her current collection, Cave of Wonders, drew from her experiences travelling to Vietnam.

What I love most about Paula’s art is the rawness and nonconformity. Instead of shiny polished emeralds, she chose instead uncut stones and amorphous shapes that bring out the true beauty and personality in the woman who wears them.
