Luke’s Wings Makes Homecomings Happen

Yep, it’s football season, but this wasn’t your ordinary homecoming.
Held in the gorgeous green-marble atrium of Bobby Van’s Grill last Saturday, Luke’s Wings’ 2010 Homecoming event marked the charity’s third year of making a different type of homecoming happen for hundreds of military servicemen— reuniting families in their most difficult moments by providing free airfare and travel accommodations to relatives of disabled or injured veterans.
Guests enjoyed bottomless beer samples from around the world paired with bite-sized international staples like bratwurst, dumplings, and even fish-and-chip skewers. But to bring it on home, a trio of Redskins cheerleader ambassadors offered autographed photos.
Homecoming: this time it was all about the courage instead of the corsage.
