Kastles Feted as City's Champion Sports Team

The Mayor was conspicuously absent, a Councilmember mistakenly called them the “Capitals,” and someone questioned (on stage) the possibility of being given the Key to the City twice… but no matter, the Washington Kastles basked in the glow of winning the first undefeated season in World Team Tennis’ 38 year history.
On the steps of the Wilson Building Tuesday afternoon, Councilmembers Yvette Alexander, Harry Thomas, Tommy Wells, Jack Evans and Mary Cheh joined Kastles’ owner Mark Ein, Coach Murphy Jenson and co-Captain Rennae Stubbs to recognize the team’s singular achievement.
“Not only is this the greatest city in the world, but we have the greatest tennis team in the world,” beamed Wells, who now boasts the team’s stadium in his Ward (6).
When asked about plans for the future season… or suggesting additions to the team… Ein quipped, “I kind of like the team we have now.  I mean, I don’t see how we could really do better or give more – unless we added more games for the fans!”
