Convention & Sports Authority Unveils New Brand: Events DC

Back in late 2009, the Washington Convention Center Authority and the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission merged into one entity – the Washington Convention and Sports Authority.  But let’s hope President and CEO Gregory O’Dell didn’t spend a bundle on new letterhead!

This afternoon at the Convention Center, O’Dell announced that the Authority is changing names…and brands… yet again.  Now called Events DC, the organization unveiled a new name, logo, slogan and campaign.  “Events DC embodies our true brand identity as one united organization offering customers an extensive array of options for events of all kinds.”

Departing from their historic role in venue management, Events DC will focus on three core services: conventions & meetings, sports & entertainment and special events.

The logos for the three brands central to the District’s meetings and tourism industry – Washington, DC and Destination DC – now all feature bold block letters joined by a central star.
