Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Jete Society Dance Party

Friday night was the annual Jete Society Dance Party, which brought out the younger crowd… who arguably might prefer to see themselves dancing on the dancefloor than a ballet at the Kennedy Center, yet they support the Washington Ballet nonetheless. I was covering the event for DC Magazine, so look for more coverage in a future issue.

Co-chairs Ashley Taylor and Winston Bao Lord held this year’s dance party at the Russian Embassy, which had enough mystery and great vodka to make up for the ridiculously lengthy line (in freezing temps!) to gain entrance to the compound. Once inside, dancers greeted guests as they mounted the grand staircase to ballrooms of dancing, gambling, lounging, and sharing secrets.

I can’t imagine I’ll see as many young, beautiful girls wearing short, shiny, strapless dresses at any other event this year…though we will do our best!
