Good Jobs, Green Jobs Conference Expo

I spent the entire day yesterday at the Department of Employment Service Booth at the Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference Expo at the Marriott Wardman Park. The Conference, produced by The Blue Green Alliance – a collaboration of the Sierra Club and the United Steelworkers – brought over 2,000 people together for three days of seminars, expositions, and advocacy around the green job movement.

DOES’ booth was part of the DC Green Street, a row of government agencies, non-profit and educational organizations and green businesses that have been instrumental in the District’s greening efforts. A stroll through the DC Green Street could educate you on the District’s new LED streetlights, how taking the metro or using Smart Bikes reduces your carbon footprint, and some volunteer and training programs that you could use to adapt your skills or learn new green ones! Also, you would know to use http://www.dcnetworks.org/ to look for a green job in and around the District… several are posted right now!
The DC Green Street was created (with supreme kudos to the District Department of the Environment) to educate conference participants (District and non-District residents) about all that is being done to green the Nation’s capital.
