Last week, DC’s Dancing Stars Gala hosted a Pre-Event Launch Party to kick off its first annual black-tie dancing challenge, which will take place next month (October 25). Event Chair Maria Coakley David, Executive Director Susannah Moss, and presenting sponsor Fred Astaire Dance Studio DC welcomed over 200 guests to Dupont Circle hotspot The Huxley.
House of Cards actor Lamont Easter, former NFL stars John Booty, CBS WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, DC Senator Paul Strauss and beauty queen Sarah Hillware were among the 2014 dancers on hand at the event, with other recognizable faces to include 2014 Celebrity Judge Gary Clark, former NFL star Richard “Doc” Walker and NBC 4’s Doug Kammerer and Chris Lawrence.
The Gala hopes to generate thousands of dollars to support local charities, including dancers’ preferred organizations like The Washington Humane Society, Girls Health Ed, T.A.P.S, Hope for Henry Foundation, Parkinson Foundation, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Guests were given the chance to show support for their favorite dancing star by donating at pop-up voting booths throughout the soiree.
