A packed house kicked off a Mother’s Day weekend while also helping a great cause Friday night at Runway Moms for a Cause — a runway show for philanthropists to take a stance on issues that affect children in America and abroad while lending a helping hand towards a solution.
This 2nd annual event served to benefit Kidsave, a DC-based 501c3 organization with the mission to create change so forgotten orphanage and foster kids grow up in families and are connected to caring adults. The 2014 event featured stylist/author Lauren Rothman as event emcee, and welcomed over 200 guests to participate in a silent auction, raffle and runway show.
Twenty one participating Power Moms — including R&B Singer Solé and Souny West, Founder, W Salon — were dressed in custom L~Shandi designs and jewelry by Carmen Eliam as they walked to a special live band performance by Stellar/Dove Award Nominated Gospo-Fella Recording Artist Tanya Dallas-Lewis. Each custom design was fitted to the models and given to them as gifts.
But the best part of the evening likely was the gaggle of little girls modeling gowns in a children’s runway presentation by Elizabeth St. John Couture.
