Hill Country Heads Outside, Cures ‘Que Cravings in DC’s Backyard

Searching for an authentic Texas open air barbecue experience? Now city ‘que cravers can look no further than Penn Quarter!

IMG_3906Hill Country Barbecue Market,  along with the National Building Museum, have teamed up this summer to bring Washingtonians what *might* be the most unique restaurant DC has ever seen.

Hill Country Backyard Barbecue held its grand opening Friday afternoon at its new location on the West Lawn of the National Building Museum, kicking off the summer BBQ season with a few speeches, a “sausage-link”IMG_3900 cutting opening ceremony, and a live set by the Kalob Griffin Band.

For those who have been to Hill Country’s main market on 7th Street, the works the same way and has the same authentic offerings – like serious slabs of pit-smoked chicken, beef, and pork, along with (as founder Marc Glosserman says), “killer live music and ice-cold beer.”

Backyard Barbecue just happens to be blissfully outside.

*NOTE: Hill Country Backyard Barbecue will be open Wednesday through Sunday all summer long, offering up food, drinks, and on Fridays and Saturdays, great live music. Also a fun KSM tip: complete the day with both grub AND golf!  Inside this summer, the National Building Museum offers two course of mini-golf!
